The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), under the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, has issued an important directive dated 6th October 2025 under Para 78(3) of the Employees’ Provident Funds Scheme, 1952. This direction has been released to ensure transparency and uniform implementation of the EPF Scheme across establishments covered under the Act.
The circular mandates that all employers must display specific establishment details derived from Form 5A prominently at their workplace and on their digital platforms. This initiative aims to make basic establishment information easily accessible to employees and stakeholders, thereby enhancing accountability and visibility in the functioning of covered establishments.
Key Compliance Requirements
As per the circular, employers of establishments covered under the Employees’ Provident Funds & Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952 are required to prominently display an extract of Form 5A either:
- At the entrance of the establishment, OR
- On the official website or mobile application of the establishment.
The displayed extract must contain the following mandatory particulars:
- EPF Code of the establishment
- Registered Name of the establishment
- Date of Coverage under the EPF Scheme
- Number of Branches and Primary Branch Address
- Name of the concerned Regional EPF Office
This disclosure should be clear, easily visible, and accessible to all employees and visitors.
Implementation Timeline
Employers are expected to comply with the directive within 15 days from the date of issue of this order (i.e., by 21st October 2025). It is advisable for establishments to prepare the required display board or update their website/mobile application promptly to avoid any non-compliance.
Consequences of Non-Compliance
Failure to adhere to the directions mentioned in this order may attract legal action under the provisions of the Employees’ Provident Funds & Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952, and the schemes framed thereunder. Hence, employers are strongly advised to treat this as a mandatory compliance requirement.
Advisory for Employers
Employers should take the following steps immediately:
- Review the information submitted in Form 5A to ensure accuracy.
- Prepare a display board containing the prescribed details at the establishment entrance.
- Update the company website and mobile app with the same information in a visible section (such as “Statutory Information” or “Legal Disclosures”).
- Retain a copy of the implemented display for record and future inspection purposes.
This move by the EPFO is intended to bring greater transparency and traceability in employer-employee relations and to make key statutory details easily verifiable by the workforce.
The direction issued under Para 78(3) reflects the EPFO’s continuous efforts to strengthen governance and ensure better compliance with the EPF Scheme. Employers are urged to act promptly to align with the directive and avoid any regulatory consequences.
