This is to update you that the mandatory requirement of UAN allotment through Aadhaar-based Face Authentication Technology (FAT) via the UMANG App has been temporarily relaxed up to 15th August 2025 for employees who joined before 1st August 2025. This means that, until 15th August 2025, UANs for such employees can still be allotted using the existing employer portal process.

Please note that no separate official circular has been issued by EPFO regarding this relaxation. However, this update is currently being displayed as a notification message on the Employer Login portal. We have attached a screenshot of the same for your reference.

For employees who join on or after 1st August 2025, the original instruction remains applicable — UAN generation must be carried out only through the UMANG App using Face Authentication, except for International Workers and citizens of Nepal or Bhutan.

We recommend making use of this relaxation period for eligible employees and ensuring that your onboarding process for new joiners after 1st August 2025 strictly complies with the FAT/UMANG requirement.

We have already shared the step-by-step guide with screenshots in previous newsletter on the same topic and the video tutorial link to assist employees with the process.
