The Government of Maharashtra has revised the Minimum Wage Rates applicable to workers employed in various Scheduled Employments in the State of Maharashtra for the period 01 July 2026 to 31 December 2026.

The revised rates are applicable across various industries and establishments covered under the respective Minimum Wages notifications, with rates prescribed based on the applicable employment, category of worker and geographical zone.

Key Compliance Update

Employers covered under the Maharashtra Minimum Wages legislation are required to ensure that the revised wage rates are duly considered while processing wages with effect from 01 July 2026.

The notification covers a wide range of scheduled employments, including manufacturing and engineering industries, construction, hotels and restaurants, hospitals, shops and commercial establishments, printing presses, plastic industry, pharmaceutical industry, public motor transport and several other sectors.

Action Required by Employers

Employers are advised to:

  • Review the applicable Minimum Wage rates for their respective industry and establishment.

  • Verify the applicable Zone and worker category.

  • Ensure that wages payable from 01 July 2026 are not below the revised statutory rates.

  • Make necessary changes in payroll and salary records, wherever required.

  • Ensure that statutory wage registers and other records are updated accordingly.

The revised notification contains different rates for the applicable categories and zones. Accordingly, employers should refer to the specific rate applicable to their scheduled employment rather than adopting a common rate across all establishments.

Compliance Advisory

Employers are requested to review their current wage structure and take necessary corrective action, wherever applicable, before finalising the payroll for July 2026 onwards.
